Ceci n'est pas une martini.

A French friend once told me a martini could only be called so if it consists of vodka or gin, and vermouth. Anything more than that, she said, is not a martini. As Margritte pointed out in the late 1920's, we would be lying if we called something that may not be, fact. This is a collection of my very own original creations.
Call them what you like.

Pickled Beet Martini

Vodka
Picked Beet Juice (

Pour chilled vodka into a chilled shaker. Use 4 tbs of beet liquid for each martini. Shake.

To make garnish-start by cutting beets into cubes (you will want to use slices on the thicker side). Stack the cubes and insert pick.

I once read an article that insinuated that beets were trendy in my neighborhood. The term trendy, for me, is negative. This blog isn’t about following a trend or sharing anything that I’ve seen before. But avoid wearing that favorite trendy white oxford shirt, especially if you are planning on having two.
