Ceci n'est pas une martini.

A French friend once told me a martini could only be called so if it consists of vodka or gin, and vermouth. Anything more than that, she said, is not a martini. As Margritte pointed out in the late 1920's, we would be lying if we called something that may not be, fact. This is a collection of my very own original creations.
Call them what you like.

Michelada Martini

Tequila

Clamato

Dos Equis XX

3/4 tsp soy sauce

3/4 Worcestershire sauce

3/4 tspTabasco sauce

Chile powder

Lime

Salt

To make the martini rim, combine lime zest, coarse ground sea salt, and chile powder. Rim the glass with a lime wedge and coat the rim with the seasoned salt.

In a chilled shaker combine equal parts Clamato and tequila (about 1/2 cup each), soy sauce, Tabasco, Worcestershire, and lime juice. Shake, pour, top with beer float.

Micheladas are an authentic Mexican beverage known for their cooling and hangover-curing abilities. Typically prepared with mostly beer, Micheladas are known as cerveza preparada and do not include tequila. Think of it as a liquid Dorito. You will never have a Bloody Mary again.
